You can find us at the Laxmi Market area in Kumbharwada. We deal in metal, mostly just buying and selling or small processing. The market is always crowded and noisy. There’s trucks coming in and out all day long. Our shop is number 109. It’s not very big, but we pack a lot of stock into the space. Metal is heavy, so moving it around is a workout for everyone. We get all kinds of people coming in. Some want a specific scrap piece, others want a bulk order of sheets. We just weigh it and figure out the price. It’s a simple business. We don’t have a marketing team or fancy brochures. The floor is concrete and usually covered in a bit of dust. We sit on plastic chairs and drink tea while waiting for the next customer. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when it rains and we have to cover everything up quickly. We’ve been in Kumbharwada for a long time. Everyone knows everyone here. It’s a tight community of traders. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just trade metal and try to keep the books straight. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and shifting. By the end of the day, your back usually hurts, but it’s a good kind of tired. We close the shutters when the sun goes down and head home.
