Shree Balaji Metal

Shree Balaji Metal is tucked away on the third floor of the Ponda Building. We are at Plot No-18/106 on Ardeshir Dady Street, which is right near C.P. Tank in Girgaon. This part of Mumbai is incredibly old and the streets are very narrow. Getting up to the third floor can be a bit of a climb, especially if the weather is humid and you're carrying samples. Our space is small but we make it work for the metal trading we do. We deal with various types of metals and have samples spread out across a few tables in the back. The noise from the street below never really stops. You can hear the bells from the temple and the sound of scooters all day long. We spend most of our time talking to suppliers and checking the quality of the scrap and new metal that comes through. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s usually a cousin or an uncle around helping out with the calls. We don't have a big corporate structure. We just open up in the morning, check our lists, and start making calls to the regular vendors. The building itself has seen better days, but it’s where we’ve always been. Most of our clients know us by word of mouth. They come to this area specifically for metal, and they know to look for us in the Ponda Building. It’s a tight-knit community of traders around here.
