Shree Ambika Matching Centre

Shree Ambika Matching Centre is Shop No 36 in the Gini Apartment, located in the Oshiwara area of Malad East. Our shop is a place where women come to find the right colors and fabrics to match their outfits. We have hundreds of different spools of thread and rolls of cloth lining the walls from the floor to the ceiling. It is a very colorful place to be, though it can be a bit overwhelming if you don't know what you are looking for. The shop is part of the Gini Apartment building, so we have a lot of neighbors who live right above us. We open up in the morning and start by tidying up the fabric scraps from the day before. The area around Oshiwara in Malad East is quite busy, with a lot of residential buildings and other small shops nearby. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where every shade of blue or red is hidden on the shelves. Sometimes customers bring in very difficult fabrics to match, and we spend a lot of time just holding up different threads to the light to see if they work. The shop doesn't have air conditioning, so we keep the door open and use a small table fan to stay cool. It is a simple, hardworking shop where we focus on the small details of sewing and tailoring for the local community.
