Sharma Steels

Up on the 6th floor of the A 602 building in Malad East, Sector 43B, that is where we keep our office for Sharma Steels. It is a bit of a climb if the lift isn't working, which happens sometimes. We aren't a huge warehouse; we mostly handle the trading and the logistics side of the steel business from here. Mumbai is always moving fast, and we try to keep up with the phone calls and the emails coming in. It is a small space, usually piled high with folders and samples of different grades of steel. We spend a lot of time talking to suppliers and trying to find the right materials for our clients. Sometimes the traffic in Malad makes it hard for anyone to visit, so we do most of our business over the phone. It is a lot of coordination. We have to make sure the trucks are going to the right place and that the weights are correct. It can be stressful when a delivery is late, but we have gotten used to it over the years. We are just a small team trying to make a living in a big city. There aren't any fancy decorations in the office, just the basics. We like it that way because it keeps us focused on the work. Every day is different, and that is just the way the steel trade works in this town.
