Shahab Enterprises

Shahab Enterprises is right there in Kurla West, across from where Kalpana is. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets with all the traffic and people walking everywhere. Our shop is numbered 196 and 198, so we have a bit of space, but it still feels small once you get all the stock inside. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling because there’s never enough room on the floor. Most mornings start with unlocking the shutters and sweeping out the dust that blows in from the road. It’s a noisy spot with the horns and the buses constantly going past. We’ve had this place for a while, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy to get around to it. Customers come in looking for things, and sometimes we have to dig through a few boxes to find exactly what they need. It’s not a fancy showroom with air conditioning that works all the time. We have a small fan that wobbles a bit, but it helps. Dealing with people all day is just part of it. Some days are slow and we just sit on the stools and watch the street, and other days we don’t even have time to finish a cup of chai. It’s just life in Kurla. We stay open late most nights because that's when it's busiest around here and people are finally finished with their own jobs.
