Shah & Vora

Our place is at 31 Ahmedabad Street, right in the Carnac Bunder area. If you know this part of the city, you know it is mostly old buildings and narrow lanes filled with trucks. It is a very old neighborhood, and we have been at this spot for a long time now. The building is a bit worn out, but it stays cool inside even when it is boiling outside. Shah & Vora has always been about just getting the work done without much fuss. We spend most of our time dealing with deliveries and checking the manifests. The walls are lined with old cupboards and files that have been there for decades. It smells like old paper and the sea air from the nearby bunder. Sometimes the traffic on Ahmedabad Street gets so backed up that we can't even get a small van to the door. We just wait it out or carry things by hand if we have to. It is not the kind of place where you come for a fancy meeting. We usually just sit on the wooden stools and talk over the noise of the traffic. There are always people walking past, and we know the tea seller who comes around every morning. The floors are a bit uneven and the paint is peeling in the corners, but it works for us. We don't really bother with decorating or anything like that because we are too busy managing the daily load. It is just a regular office in a very old part of town.
