Sha Kalyanji Najpar & Company

Our shop, Sha Kalyanji Najpar & Company, is tucked away on Nanabhai Desai Road over in Charni Road. We've been at number 27 for quite a while. It’s an old building and the walls are a bit thick. We deal with traditional goods, and it’s a quiet kind of business for the most part. Charni Road is a place with a lot of history, and you can feel it when you walk down the street. Our daily routine involves a lot of checking stock and talking to suppliers. We aren't really into the modern way of doing things with apps or social media. We prefer to talk to people face-to-face. Sometimes the rain leaks a bit through the window frame during the monsoon, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have so much stuff packed onto the shelves. You have to know exactly where everything is or you'll never find it. Most of our customers are locals who live nearby or work in the small offices around here. We don't have a big marketing budget or any of that. We just focus on keeping the doors open and having what people need. It’s a simple life. We close up around dinner time and head home. The street gets quiet then. It's just a regular business run by regular people who’ve been here for years and know the neighborhood well.
