We are located down by Sewri Fort Road in the John Robert Compound. Being in Sewri East means we are close to the water, and you can sometimes smell the salt in the air when the breeze is right. The compound is an old place with high walls and big gates. It’s a bit tucked away, so people sometimes miss the entrance if they aren't looking for it. We do our overseas business from a small office inside the compound. It’s a very functional space with old wooden desks and plenty of filing cabinets. Most of our day involves talking to people in different time zones and making sure the containers are booked. There are always trucks idling outside, waiting to load or unload, so there’s a constant low rumble in the background. We don't have a lot of visitors, so we don't bother with fancy furniture or decorations. It’s just us and the paperwork. We spend a lot of time checking the weather and the shipping schedules. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby trees come onto the roof and make a lot of noise. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way to work, but it suits us just fine. We just focus on getting the cargo where it needs to go without making a big deal out of it. It’s a quiet corner of the city to run a business. We usually pack up once the sun starts to go down.
