Our workplace is Seaworld Shipping & Logistics Pvt.Ltd., and we are situated on the 7th floor of the Balarama building. Being in Mumbai 400051 means we are right in the thick of the business district. From up here on the seventh floor, the view is mostly just other office buildings and the haze of the city. The elevators are always full in the morning with people rushing to get to their desks. Our office has that specific smell of old paper and electronics. It’s not a huge space, so we are all pretty close to each other while we work. We handle a lot of different things throughout the day, mostly just keeping track of where everything is supposed to be. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking lists over and over. When it rains, you can hear it hitting the glass really hard, which is a bit of a distraction. We usually have a few fans going to keep the air moving. Most of us take the local train to get here, so the talk in the morning is usually about the commute or the weather. We aren't doing anything world-changing, just making sure the shipping side of things keeps moving along like it’s supposed to. It’s a lot of small tasks that add up by the time we leave. The office stays busy until the sun goes down and we lock up.
