We have been here in Kandivali East for a while now, right near the Big Bazar. It is a busy spot so people usually stop by when their car won't start or they need something for their home inverter. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic out front but we keep the doors open anyway. Sometimes we're just sitting here waiting for the next delivery to arrive. My cousin helps out when it gets busy in the afternoons. It's not a fancy shop or anything, just shelves full of different sized batteries and a few tools lying around. People know us because we've stayed in the same spot for years. Dealing with lead and acid all day is a bit messy but you get used to it after a point. We mostly just talk to the locals who live in the nearby buildings. If the power goes out in the neighborhood, we usually get a lot of phone calls at once. We don't really do any big advertising, mostly just people walking past and seeing the sign. The tea stall next door is where we spend half our time anyway. It’s just a normal daily routine here. Most days are quiet until someone’s battery dies unexpectedly. Then it’s a bit of a rush to get things sorted for them. We just try to keep things moving and make sure people can get back on the road. It is a simple way to make a living, really. There is always something to do.
