Our shop, number 545, is located right on the Mumbai Bye Pass Highway in Warjegaon, Ulhasnagar. It’s a very busy spot because of all the traffic going past towards Thane. Because we are right on the highway, it’s always loud and there’s a constant layer of dust on everything. We deal in steel, so our space is mostly used for storing long rods, sheets, and other heavy materials. It’s not a fancy place at all. We have a small desk where we handle the cash and the receipts, but most of the time we are out on the floor moving things around. The sun hits the shop hard in the afternoons, making it very hot inside. We just keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze we can. We’ve been operating from this location for quite some time now. We don’t go in for any big advertisements or promotional stuff. Most of our business comes from the contractors and local builders who pass by on the highway. It’s a very simple, hands-on business. We spend our days loading trucks and checking our stock levels. Sometimes the work is slow, and we just sit and watch the trucks go by on the bye pass. It’s a regular life and a regular shop. We just try to do our work honestly and keep the business going in this busy part of Ulhasnagar.
