Our office for Sai Shipping Co. Pvt Ltd is up on the 11th floor of the Embassy Centre. We are at 1124, right in Nariman Point. Being this high up means we get a bit of a view, though most of the time we are too busy to look out the window. Nariman Point is a very formal part of Mumbai, but inside our office, things are pretty relaxed. We deal with shipping, so there’s always a bit of stress when things are delayed at the port. We spend most of our time on the phone or sending emails to clear up logistics issues. The office has that typical 11th-floor feel, with the hum of the air conditioning always in the background. It’s a lot of sitting and typing. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the decor; it’s just desks, chairs, and some old cabinets for the files. Sometimes the elevators in the Embassy Centre take forever, which is a bit of a nuisance. We have a small pantry where we make tea and talk about the weekend. It’s a corporate address, but we are just regular people trying to make sure the cargo gets where it needs to go. On rainy days, the view of the sea gets all grey and blurry. It makes the office feel even quieter. We've had some of the same staff for over a decade now. We just come in, do the shipping work, and go home.
