Sai Marine Supply

The area around Dana Bunder is always busy with trucks and people moving crates. Our spot is in the C.K. Building on Sant Tukaram Road. If you know Masjid East, you know how the traffic gets. At Sai Marine Supply, we mostly deal with parts and supplies that ships need when they're at the port. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and checking lists. The office is small and usually has stacks of papers everywhere. We get a lot of grease on our clothes some days. It is not a quiet job. You can hear the trains and the horns from the street all day long. We started out with just a few items but now the storeroom is pretty full. Sometimes it's hard to find a specific bolt or rope in the pile. We don't have a website that works well, mostly just a phone that rings a lot. My brother and I handle most of the orders ourselves. We know the regulars by name now. It gets really hot in the summer under the tin roof of the warehouse section. We just drink a lot of cold water and keep moving the stock. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. People stop by for a chat while they wait for their orders to be packed up. We don't have a big corporate plan, we just want to make sure the ships get what they need so we can go home at the end of the day.
