Our shop is number 14 in the Gafoor Khan Estate, right on Lbs Marg in Kurla West. It is a busy stretch of road, especially with the State Bank of India being right across from us. There is always a lot of noise from the traffic and people coming and going from the bank. We’ve been in this spot for years, and the shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of things. It’s a tight squeeze sometimes when a few customers come in at once. We spend our time reorganizing the shelves and helping people find exactly what they need. Most of the day is spent chatting with the locals who stop by while they’re out running errands. It’s not a big corporate operation, just a small business trying to keep up with the demands of the neighborhood. We handle the accounts by hand mostly, and there is always a stack of invoices on the counter. The estate itself is old, but it has a lot of character and we like the vibe of Kurla. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic with the deliveries blocking the entrance, but we manage to work around it. We don't do any big advertising or fancy displays. We just open up early, sweep the front, and get ready for whoever walks through the door. It is a simple life, but it keeps us very busy every day. We just take it one customer at a time.
