Ritu Steel

Ritu Steel is a small shop on the ground floor of No. 52, Kika Street. We are right in the middle of Gulalwadi, which is a very busy market for anything made of metal. Our space is filled with steel from front to back. Sometimes it’s hard to even find a place to sit because there is so much stock. We get a lot of people walking in asking for specific sizes or types of steel. Kika Street is always loud with the sound of metal being moved or cut nearby. We don't have a fancy display; we just have what we have. If we don’t have it in the shop, we usually know where to find it. My father started this and now I’m here most days. It’s a lot of dusty work and your hands are always dirty from handling the pipes and bars. We don't use much technology here, just a simple ledger and some basic tools. Most of our customers are locals or small contractors who have been coming to us for years. We don't make big promises, we just tell them what’s in stock and what the price is today. It’s a simple, honest business. We stay open late most nights to make sure we finish the day's tasks. The noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. We just keep the door open to let some air in, even if it brings in the dust.
