If you go down to Khetwadi, you will find Ravindra Steel India on the ground floor of Omkar Tower. It is a very crowded area and the streets are always full of people and delivery carts. Our shop is not very big, so we have to stack our steel right up to the ceiling sometimes. It can be a bit dark in the back of the store, but we know exactly where every piece of stainless steel is hidden. I have been in this trade since I was a young man, so the smell of metal and the sound of it clanging together is just part of my daily life. We do not have a desk for a receptionist or a place for people to sit and wait. Most of our customers are in a hurry anyway. They tell us the measurements they need, we cut the steel, and they head back out into the traffic. It is a lot of physical work moving those heavy plates around. We do not do any fancy marketing or have a polished way of speaking. We just give a fair price based on the weight and the type of metal. Some days the humidity in Mumbai makes everything feel twice as heavy, but we just keep going. It is a simple operation and we like being right here in the middle of the bustle of Khetwadi.
