Rajtilak Metal Industries

A/14 Grant Road is where you’ll find our metal shop, right inside Parvati Mansion. The building is one of those old ones that has seen a lot of history, and we’ve been operating Rajtilak Metal Industries from this ground floor unit for quite some time. It’s usually pretty loud around here because of all the traffic on Grant Road, and inside the shop, there’s always the sound of metal being moved around or cut. The floor is mostly covered in scraps and dust from the work we do. We don’t have a big fancy office; it’s just a desk in the corner where we keep our registers and the phone. Most of our day is spent dealing with suppliers or loading up small trucks that pull up outside. The light in the back of the shop isn't great, so we usually have the big fluorescent tubes on all day long. Sometimes it gets really hot in here, especially in May, but we just keep the fans going and carry on. The neighbors in Parvati Mansion are used to us by now, even with the clanking of the metal sheets. We mostly handle industrial parts and basic metal supplies that people in the trade need. It’s a busy life, and there isn't much time for sitting around. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high and stay until the shutters go down in the evening. There is always more metal to move.
