Our business is located in Gala Number 4 inside the Bharat Compound. This is in Goregaon East, right on the main road near Infantry Road. The compound is home to a lot of different small workshops and businesses, so there’s a real sense of a working community here. We deal with steel, so our gala is mostly filled with metal stock and a few heavy tables for cutting and measuring. It’s a very practical space. The walls are just bare brick and concrete, and the floor is scarred from years of moving heavy steel around. Outside, the Goregaon main road is always packed with traffic, and the noise of the cars and trucks is constant. We usually keep the large front door of the gala open to get some light and air, even though it brings in some of the road dust. We spend our time checking our inventory and fulfilling the orders that come in. It’s a straightforward job without any unnecessary complications. We know the other people in the Bharat Compound, and we often stop to have a quick tea with the neighbors during a break. It’s a busy life but it’s what we know. We don't have a fancy office or a website, we just stay at our spot in the gala and get the work done.
