Rajkamal Tea has been operating out of Navketan Building in Chembur for years. We are at number 10, and you can usually tell you’re close by the smell of dried tea leaves that hangs in the hallway. Our space is basically a warehouse with a couple of desks shoved into the corners. There are sacks of tea stacked up to the ceiling in some places, which makes it feel a bit like a maze. We spend a lot of time checking the shipments that come in and making sure everything is packed correctly for our customers. Chembur is our home base, and we like it here. The building itself is quite old, and the stairs are a bit steep, but it has a lot of history. We don't have a showroom or a fancy tasting room. If you want to try the tea, we just boil some water on a small stove we keep in the back. It’s a very hands-on business. Our hands are usually covered in tea dust by the end of the day. We have a small staff and we all do a bit of everything, from moving heavy bags to answering the phone. It’s a busy, dusty, and honest way to make a living. We don't use fancy packaging unless someone asks for it. Mostly, it's just good tea in simple bags, handled by people who know what they're doing.
