Rajesh Metal Mfg. Co. is based in the H. K. Compound on Andheri-Kurla Road in Sakinaka. If you’ve ever been to Sakinaka, you know the traffic is something else. It’s a major hub for small manufacturing units and workshops. Our place is inside the compound, which stays busy from dawn until late at night. We have the machines running for most of the day, so it’s never really quiet. The air is thick with the smell of cutting oil and metal shavings. We aren't a big corporation; we're just a manufacturing shop with a dedicated crew. Most of us are used to the noise and the heat by now. The office is just a partitioned space in one corner where we keep the records and handle the phones. It gets pretty dusty, so we are always cleaning off the desks. We have lunch together near the entrance when the machines are cooling down. It’s a lot of hard work, making sure the pieces are cut right and the orders are ready for pickup. We don't spend much on making the place look pretty because the work is what matters. Trucks come into the compound all day long, and it can be a bit of a scramble to get everything loaded up. It's just a regular life in a Sakinaka workshop. We just do our job and go home at night.
