Raj Steel Art is tucked away in the Cooper Compound over in the Girgaon area. We are in Gala No 25/150, which is part of the Model Town Extension. It’s one of those old industrial spots where everyone knows their neighbor. We do a lot of work with steel, mostly making gates or window grills, or whatever else someone needs fabricated. The shop is always full of the sound of grinding and welding sparks. It’s not the quietest place to spend your afternoon, but we like the work. There’s a certain rhythm to it that feels right. We’ve been in this compound for quite a while now. The space is a bit cramped with all the raw materials leaning against the walls, but we manage. Sometimes we have to move three things just to get to one piece of equipment. It keeps us on our toes. People from around Girgaon usually find us by word of mouth. We don't really do any advertising. We just focus on finishing the jobs we have on the bench. The air is always a bit metallic and the floor is never really clean, no matter how much we sweep. But that’s what a working shop looks like. It’s a practical business. We show up, we do the welding, and we go home. It’s simple, and it works for us and the people who need our help. We stay open pretty late to get everything done.
