Rahul Forge

Rahul Forge is located over at E-6 in Udyog Sadan No.2, which is part of the MIDC area in Andheri East. Anyone who works in this part of Mumbai knows how the traffic can be, but once you get inside the gates, it’s a different world. It’s hot in here most days because of the work we do. Forging isn’t a clean or quiet job. There’s a lot of heavy hitting and metal being moved around. We have a small crew and we’ve mostly learned the trade by just doing it day after day. We don't have a glossy brochure or a front desk with a receptionist. Usually, if you walk in, you’ll just see someone in overalls near the machines. The floor is covered in bits of scrap and the walls have seen better days, but the equipment is solid. We take in orders from all over the city. Some days are slower, giving us time to fix the tools, and other days it feels like we can't move fast enough. We try to keep things simple. If a customer needs a part forged, we look at the drawing and tell them if we can do it. There isn't much talk beyond what’s necessary for the job. It’s been our home for years, and while the city changes around us, the work inside our walls stays pretty much the same.
