R K Hardware & Tools

R K Hardware & Tools is our little shop located at 11 Kandivali West, right on the Jawaher Chowk Cross Road. If you know Kandivali, you know this cross road is always packed with people buying things for their homes. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling filled with every kind of tool or hardware piece you might need. It is a bit of a maze inside because we try to fit so much stock into a small space. We open the shop pretty early because workers usually want to pick up their tools before they start their day's jobs. It gets quite dusty with all the construction items around, but we try to keep the counters clear. I spend most of the day climbing up and down the ladder to get things from the top shelves for customers. There is no fancy computer system here; we mostly know where everything is just by memory. The noise from the traffic at Jawaher Chowk is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two of working here. We have a small fan that does not do much in the heat, but it is better than nothing. Most of our customers are locals who live nearby and just need a few screws or a new hammer. We just keep things simple and try to help people find the right tool for whatever they are fixing in their house.
