We are Hindustan Agencies, and you can find us in Mangal Bazar in Mumbai. This area is always crowded and noisy, which is just how we like it. We deal with various goods and supplies, mostly acting as a middle point for things moving through the city. Our office is more like a storage room with a couple of desks pushed against the wall. There are boxes stacked almost to the ceiling, so we have to be careful when moving around. We don't have a fancy lobby or anyone to greet you at the door. Usually, we are busy on the phone or checking invoices against the crates that just arrived. Mangal Bazar is a place where everyone is doing business, so we fit right in. We’ve been here for a long time and have seen the buildings around us change, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We use a lot of paper and pens, and there’s always a stack of ledgers that need updating. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s important for keeping things moving. We drink our chai from the stall across the way and talk to the other shop owners during the slow hours. Sometimes the heat in the market is a bit much, but we just keep the fans going. It’s a busy life here in Mumbai, and we are just a small part of it. The market never really sleeps, and neither do we during the week.
