This office is up on the third floor of Sukhanand Chawl. Room number 46 is where we spend most of our time. Being in CP Tank means it gets pretty loud outside, but you get used to the Mumbai noise after a while. It’s an old building, so the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you’re not used to them. We’ve been running Puloma Dalal Chartered Accountants from this space for a long time. There are always stacks of ledgers and tax forms lying around. It’s not a fancy glass office like you see in the movies, just a regular room with some desks and old fans. We keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through from the street. During tax season, we stay late and the lights are usually the last ones on in the hallway. It’s a small team here. We know the neighbors in the chawl pretty well by now. Everyone just goes about their business. We focus on the numbers and making sure the filings are done. Sometimes the chai is the only thing that keeps us going through the afternoon. It’s a practical place for a practical job. We don’t have a big reception area or anything like that. You just walk in and we're right there at the desks working. It’s been our home base for years and we don't plan on moving anywhere else anytime soon because this place suits us.
