President Steel (India)

President Steel (India) is tucked away on Nanubhai Desai Road, right in the heart of the Charni Road area. If you know Mumbai, you know how these streets are. It is crowded and there is always something happening outside the door. Our shop at 2/6 is not the biggest place, but we make use of every inch of space we have. We have got stacks of steel tucked into corners and leaning against the walls. Usually, you will find one or two of us balancing the books or talking to a regular customer who has been coming here since my father ran the place. It is a bit of a maze inside, but we know where everything is kept. The traffic on Nanubhai Desai Road is constant, so unloading a delivery can be a real headache sometimes. We have to time it just right or the whole street gets backed up for blocks. We do not have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most of our days are spent answering the phone and checking the stock levels. It gets hot in the summer, especially with all that metal reflecting the light, but we just keep the fans going and carry on. We deal with all sorts of people, from big contractors to small shop owners. It is honest work, and being in this part of the city means we are never bored. There is always a chai wallah nearby when we need a break.
