Premier Cool Cab

Our office is over on Shantiniketan Kothi Cross Road in the 400029 area of Mumbai. It’s a bit of a specific spot to find, but once you’re on Kothi Cross Road, you’re basically there. Premier Cool Cab is run by a small group of us who have lived in Mumbai most of our lives. The office isn't anything special—just a couple of desks, some old chairs, and a map of the city pinned to the wall with tape that’s losing its stick. We spend our time managing the cars and talking to the drivers over the phone. It’s a lot of "where are you now?" and "how’s the traffic on the bridge?" type of conversations. We don't have a big fancy website or an app that does everything. We just do things the old-fashioned way. The neighborhood is okay, though parking is always a struggle around here. We usually have a pot of tea going, and there’s always someone coming in or out. It gets pretty humid in the afternoons, so the small AC unit we have works overtime. We aren't trying to change the world; we just want to make sure people get a ride when they need one. It’s a simple business, and we like it that way. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to know what needs to be done. We just keep the cars running and the schedules as organized as we can. It’s a living, and it keeps us connected to the city.
