Prayas Metal (India)

Prayas Metal (India) is tucked away in the Meher Behram Building at 14/1 on 7th Khetwadi Lane. Khetwadi is a place with a lot of character and very narrow lanes, so things are always a bit tight around here. Our office is more like a workshop where we keep our metal stocks and handle the day-to-day business. It’s a family-style atmosphere, and we’ve known most of our neighbors for years. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches for us. We just deal in metals, mostly specialized stuff that people in the neighborhood and across the city need for their projects. The building itself is old and has a lot of history, much like the business. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or checking the weight of the metal pieces on our scales. It’s a lot of manual work and the office is often cluttered with offcuts and shipping boxes. We don’t use much technology besides the basics needed to keep the books. Most of our customers are people we’ve dealt with for a long time. We just try to stay busy and make sure the orders are accurate. It’s not a quiet job, especially with the sounds of the lane coming through the windows, but it’s what we do and we’re used to the rhythm of it.
