Prashant Steel

Down here at 170/172 Gulal Wadi, you’ll find the yard where we keep all the metal. Prashant Steel has been sitting in Munjumahuda for quite some time, and it’s mostly just a lot of heavy lifting and the sound of iron clanging together. The space is filled with stacks of steel that come in and go out to different projects around the city. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the wind picks up, but that’s just how it is working with this kind of material. We have a small office tucked in the corner where the paperwork gets done, but most of the time we are out on the floor. People find us because they know the Gulal Wadi area well, and we are easy to spot once you get close to the address. It’s a practical setup, nothing for show. We have the usual machines for cutting and moving the heavier pieces, and they make a fair bit of noise throughout the day. The tea stall nearby is where we usually take a break when things slow down for a minute. Working with steel isn’t easy on the hands, but it’s the job we know. We don't have any big signs or bright lights, just the name on the gate and the work piling up. Most days are long, starting early before it gets too hot to move the heavy stuff and managing the inventory.
