Prashant Steel Co. is tucked into Shop No. 2 & 3 in the Laxmi Building, right on 11Th Khetwadi. It’s one of those spots that’s easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it, but we’ve been here long enough that most of the locals know the way. The shop is basically our second home. We spend most of our waking hours here, surrounded by stacks of steel and the sound of the city passing by the door. It’s a tight space, so we have to be smart about how we pile the inventory. Sometimes you have to move five things just to get to the one piece of steel a customer wants. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but we have it figured out. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices, just a local business with some dusty shelves and a couple of ceiling fans that have seen better days. Every morning we open up, sweep the floor, and start looking over the notes for the day. There’s always someone coming in to ask for a specific size or type of metal, and we do what we can to help them out. The 11Th Khetwadi area is always buzzing, which keeps things interesting. We just focus on the work, making sure the measurements are right and the stock is replenished. It’s just us, doing our thing in the Laxmi Building every day.
