We are based in Mahalaxmi Chambers on Bhulabhai Desai Road, up in room 701. It’s a busy building in a well-known part of town. Being on the seventh floor gives us a bit of a view, but we’re usually too busy to look out the window much. We deal in steel on a pretty large scale, so there’s always a lot of activity in the office. The phones are constantly going with calls from suppliers and customers from all over. It’s a bit more of a corporate setting than a shop on the street, but it’s still a place where people work hard. We don't have any of those fancy mission statements on the walls. We just focus on the daily tasks of trading steel and making sure the logistics are handled properly. Our desks are piled high with reports and market news because the price of steel is always changing. We usually eat our lunch at our desks while we check the latest numbers. It’s a fast-paced environment, and sometimes it gets a bit stressful when a shipment is delayed, but that’s the nature of the steel industry. We’ve been in Mahalaxmi Chambers for quite a while now and we have a good routine down. We just keep our heads down and do the work, trying to make sure the business stays steady. It’s not glamorous, but it’s what we know.
