Prabhat Metals India Pvt Ltd is over here in Shop No 5 in Girgaon. We've been near Kotari Hospital for a long time now. The street is always loud with people walking by and cars honking, but that’s just how things go around here. Inside the shop, we’ve got metal stacked up in different corners. Most days we are just sorting through orders or talking to people who drop in to see what we have in stock. It’s not fancy. My desk is covered in papers and we usually have tea brought in twice a day from the stall down the road. We deal with all kinds of metal parts and pieces. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy, but we know where everything is. People ask us for things and we try to find them in the piles. It's a lot of lifting and moving stuff around. The air smells like iron most of the time. When the rain comes, we have to make sure everything stays dry, which is a struggle in these old buildings. We don’t really do much advertising. People just know we are here by the hospital and they stop by when they need something specific. It’s hard work, and the days can be long, but it’s what we do. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down, just keeping things moving one piece of metal at a time.
