Our office is situated over on Lamington Road, right near the Grant Road East station area. We are in the H.G. Jain hostel building, which is just opposite the Navjivan Society. If you know this part of Mumbai, you know it is famous for electronics and is always incredibly crowded. The noise from the street is a constant background sound for us. We are an accounting firm, so we spend our hours dealing with various audits and tax matters. The building has an older feel to it, which we quite like. It’s not a shiny new skyscraper, but it has character. Inside, we have our computers and desks set up for the team. There is a lot of back-and-forth between us as we discuss different cases and regulations. Grant Road is a very busy area, so there is always something happening outside. We don’t have any marketing slogans or fancy brochures. People mostly know us because we’ve been around for a while. We drink a lot of tea to keep going during the long afternoons. The work is mostly about being careful with details and making sure no mistakes are made in the filings. It can be stressful when deadlines are close, but we’ve handled it for many years. We just come in, do our work, and head home like everyone else in this city. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment where the main focus is always on the accounting tasks at hand for the clients.
