Pitamber Laljee & Sons

Our office is in Bharat House, which is one of those older buildings you find in the Fort area of Mumbai. We are on the 4th floor at 104 Bombay Samachar Marg. If you know the neighborhood, you know it has a lot of history and the buildings have that old-school feel. It’s not a modern glass tower, which we actually prefer. Inside, Pitamber Laljee and Sons is a busy place with a lot of history behind the name. We have stacks of registers and papers because some things are still done the old way here. It gets quite busy on the street outside with all the people and cars, but once you get up to the fourth floor, it settles down a bit. We’ve been operating from this spot for years. The stairs can be a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens now and then. We don’t really bother with any corporate polish. Our desks are old wood, and the layout is just whatever worked best over the years. We spend our time managing things for our clients and talking to the folks we’ve known for decades. It is a family-style environment where everyone knows each other’s business. We usually just get our work done, have our tea, and head home after the evening rush. It’s just how we do things in Fort. We've seen the city change quite a bit from these windows, but the day-to-day work stays mostly the same.
