Our office is down on the ground floor of the Krupanidhi building on Walchand Hirachand Marg. It’s a pretty busy part of town, especially with all the people walking back and forth near the port area. Parulekar Shipping Pvt.Ltd. has been running out of this spot for a while now. The space inside is mostly filled with desks and tall stacks of files that never seem to get any smaller. There’s always someone on the phone or typing away at a keyboard. It gets a bit loud when the traffic outside picks up in the afternoon. We mostly deal with the paperwork and the coordination that comes with moving cargo. It’s a lot of checking lists and making sure things are where they should be. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we just sit there waiting for a page to load while drinking tea. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and old maps of the docks. It’s a practical space for practical work. The ground floor is nice because we don’t have to wait for the elevator, which is usually broken in these old buildings anyway. People drop by with documents all day long. We’ve got a couple of ceiling fans that hum all the time, trying to keep the heat away. It’s just how we do things here every day. It’s not a flashy setup, but it works for what we need to get done with the ships and the containers.
