Parekh Steel

We are located at 61 Matunga East Dawar Market on the first floor of Parekh Chambers. It is a bit of a maze back here, especially being situated behind the Aurora Theatre. Most people know the theatre, so that helps them find us when they are looking for steel supplies. Our space is filled with the smell of metal and the sound of heavy things being moved around. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the shift. We deal with different types of steel, mostly for construction and local builders who need specific sizes. It is a lot of measuring and cutting and making sure the inventory is correct. The market is always loud, and the stairs up to the first floor can be a bit of a climb if you are carrying something heavy. We’ve been part of this market for a while now. We know the other shop owners and the tea seller downstairs quite well. It’s a community of workers here. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or shiny brochures. People come to us because we are right here in the market and we have what they need in stock. It’s a straightforward business, and we like it that way. No big corporate meetings, just us and the steel and the daily orders that need filling.
