Our place is right in the middle of Lower Parel at the Janta Industrial Compound. It’s a bit of a strange spot because we are right opposite the big Phoenix Mills mall, which is always shiny and busy. Our building, number 9, is more traditional. We are right next to the Power House Gym, so we often hear the thumping of music or people working out while we are trying to count our inventory. Being on SB Marg means there is never a quiet moment with the cars and the people walking by. The office inside the compound is functional. We have high ceilings and old floors that creak a bit. We spend most of our time dealing with import and export details, sitting at desks that have been here since we started. There’s no lobby or fancy chairs for visitors; we usually just pull up a stool if someone stops by. The air is always a bit dusty because of the construction nearby, but we just keep the fans going. It’s a lot of coordinating with people at the docks or the airport. We don’t try to look like the big offices across the street. We’re just here to do the work and get the orders out on time. It’s a busy life in a busy part of town, and we just keep our heads down and get through the daily tasks. We take our breaks when the tea man comes around.
