Padmini Steels

Our shop, Padmini Steels, is right in the middle of 5th Kumbharwada at Maruti Mandir Marg 50. It is a busy street and you can always hear the bells from the temple nearby. We have been working with steel for a long time now. It’s heavy, dirty work, but someone has to do it. The shop is full of scrap and new pieces of metal piled up in the corners. We don’t have much space, so we have to be organized, even if it looks like a mess to someone walking in for the first time. We mostly help out local small-scale contractors and people doing home repairs. We don’t go for big corporate talk; we just tell you what we have and what it costs. My brother and I run the place with a couple of helpers who have been with us since the start. The summer is the hardest time because the metal gets so hot you can barely touch it. We drink a lot of water and just keep pushing through. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. Our only goal is to make sure we don't send out anything that isn't cut right. It is a plain and simple business. We close up when the sun goes down and start all over again the next morning. It’s a good life in a busy neighborhood and we wouldn't have it any other way.
