You can find us in Room 513 on the fifth floor of Loha Bhavan. If you know P.D. Mello Road, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and the smell of the docks nearby. The building is an old one, solid and full of other offices doing similar work. Being on the fifth floor means we get a bit of a breeze sometimes, but the sounds of the street never really go away. Our office is mostly just desks, old cupboards filled with files, and the sound of the ceiling fan. We spend a lot of time looking at documents and talking to people about shipping and trade. The lift is one of those old manual ones where you have to pull the gate shut yourself. It has a certain charm, I suppose, even if it is slow. The hallways are narrow and you often bump into people from the other rooms. We keep things pretty simple here. There is always a pot of tea being shared at some point in the afternoon. It is the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s business after a few years. We just focus on the tasks on our desks and try to keep up with the pace of the road outside. It is a lot of paperwork, but that is just how the agency business goes in this part of town.
