Ossam Steel Fabricators

Ossam Steel Fabricators is a workshop we run out of Powai. We are up on the first floor in B Wing, Flat 102. It's a bit of an unusual spot for a fabrication place, being in a building like this, but it works for us. We are right across from the main gate of IIT. You can hear the sounds of the city and the students all day long. We spend most of our time cutting and joining metal. The floor is usually covered in scraps and dust, but that’s part of the job. It’s not a showroom, it’s a place where work actually happens. We take on all sorts of small and medium steel jobs. Sometimes people walk in with a sketch on a piece of cardboard, and we try to figure out how to make it for them. It’s hard work and your hands get dirty, but I like seeing something solid at the end of the day. The space is a bit cramped, especially when we have a lot of materials delivered. We have to be careful moving things up to the first floor. It’s just a few of us here, mostly local guys who know their way around a welder. We don’t do much advertising. Most people find us because they saw our sign while stuck in traffic near the IIT gate. It’s a busy spot to be, and there is always plenty of metal to grind and weld together.
