You can find Om Steel Products at Shop No. 7, right at Ram Bali Yadav Chowk. It’s on the Goregoan Mulund Road, so it’s always loud with trucks and buses passing by all day long. Being opposite Atlanta Estate makes it easy for people to find us, even though the chowk is usually pretty crowded with people and vehicles. The shop is filled with steel items, so it’s got that metallic smell and a bit of dust that you can’t ever really get rid of. We spend a lot of time moving heavy stuff around, and our hands are usually a bit dirty from the metal. It’s a practical space. There isn’t much room for a lobby or anything like that, just the counter and the storage racks. In the summer, the heat coming off the road is pretty intense, but we’ve got a big cooler that helps a bit. Most of the guys here have been working with steel for years, so they know how to handle the heavy lifting without making a fuss. We deal with all sorts of people who stop by the chowk looking for specific parts or materials. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a second to breathe. It’s busy, it’s noisy, and it’s exactly what you’d expect from a steel shop in this part of town.
