Nyka Steel Pvt.Ltd. is based at 13 Piru Lane in Mumbai. If you know the 400009 area, you know it’s mostly old warehouses and narrow streets. We’ve been in this building for a long time, and it has that specific smell of old metal and industrial grease. We handle a lot of steel products, from heavy beams to smaller plates. The warehouse floor is where all the action is, with guys moving stock around all day. It gets incredibly hot in Mumbai during the summer, so we have a few big industrial fans that never seem to stop. Our office is just a tiny room partitioned off from the main storage area. It’s got a couple of desks and a phone that rings more often than you’d think. We don’t do any big advertising campaigns or have a shiny website. Most of our customers are people who have been buying from us for decades. They know where to find us on Piru Lane. Trucks have a hard time navigating the lane when it’s busy, so things can get a bit chaotic in the afternoons. We just focus on getting the steel loaded and out the door. It’s a straightforward, hardworking environment without any of the corporate fluff. We show up, we do the heavy lifting, and we go home. That is pretty much how we’ve always operated, and we do not plan on changing it anytime soon.
