We are based in Andheri West, which is always a chaotic part of Mumbai to work in. Our office is in the Nirmal building, specifically 10 B on the tenth floor. Jai Prakash Road is right outside, so there is constant honking and the sound of the local trains nearby. Nutan Advertising has been operating from this spot for a good while. It’s a typical Mumbai office—not huge, but every inch of space is used for something. There are stacks of old ad campaigns and newspapers piled up in the corners. We spend our days dealing with clients and trying to get the layouts right. The elevator in this building can be a bit slow, so we often end up waiting in the lobby chatting with the other folks who work in the building. It’s a practical environment. We don’t have those fancy lounge areas or bean bags you see in modern tech offices. It’s just desks, computers, and a lot of coffee. Working in Andheri means you’re always in the middle of the action, which is good for the advertising business I suppose. The air conditioning hums in the background while we figure out where the next set of posters or ads will go. It’s a lot of back-and-forth on the phone and checking the proofs before they go out. We just keep our heads down and get the work finished for whoever walks through the door.
