About Nrityangan Academy Fine Arts – Art & Craft in Mumbai
If you head down Lane No 10 in Santacruz East, you’ll find us at A 504, Sarla Garden. That’s where Nrityangan Academy Fine Arts is set up. It’s a residential area, so it’s usually pretty quiet until we start our sessions. We’ve been in Sarla Garden for a while, and the neighbors are mostly used to the sound by now. The space is up on the fifth floor, so you get a bit of a breeze if the windows are open. It’s not a huge studio, but we make it work for everyone. I’m usually there early to sweep the floors and get the speakers ready. Sometimes the elevator in the building is a bit slow, so we just take the stairs. It’s a good workout anyway. We aren't looking to be the biggest place in Santacruz, just a spot where people can come and learn. Most of the folks who come here live in the nearby blocks. We know everyone by name, which is how we like it. It’s just a normal apartment that we’ve turned into a place for art. There’s no big reception desk or anything, just a few chairs for people to wait. We keep things simple and focus on the teaching. It’s a nice little corner of the world here at A 504. Most evenings the sunset looks great from up here.
