Nritya Kala Academy

Our place is out on Chaurauli Road in Borivali. It's located near Ananandi Devasi. It’s a pretty straightforward setup we have here. We spend a lot of time on the road or in the studio. The area gets quite busy during the day, so parking can be a bit of a headache for some of us. We’ve been working out of this spot for a while now. It’s mostly just a small group of us who care about the arts. We don't have a big staff or any corporate managers. Usually, it's just one or two people handling everything from the cleaning to the actual teaching. The building is okay, nothing special to look at from the street outside. Inside, we keep it as neat as we can, though there’s always a bag or two left behind by a student or some papers sitting around. We drink a lot of water and keep the fans going all day long. Borivali can get quite warm in the summer, so those fans are very important to us. We just focus on the daily routines. It’s a local business, through and through. We know the people who walk past our door every day. Sometimes they peek in to see what’s going on during a session. We don’t have much in the way of decoration or fancy furniture. Just the essentials for what we do. It’s a practical space for practical people. We open up early and usually stay late until the last person finishes up and the lights go out. It’s just how we run things around here on Chaurauli Road.
