Nrithyodaya The Academy Of Performing Arts

We are tucked away in Lakshmi Nivas, over on Road No 25 near the Daruwala Pool area. It's an old building, 1/71 to be exact. Being in Sion means there's always a bit of noise from the street, but you get used to it after a few weeks of working here. The space inside is where we spend almost all of our time. It's not particularly modern or anything like those big studios downtown. We have some basic stuff set up for the performing arts. Most of the people who come here live nearby or take the local bus. We’ve been at this for a bit, just trying to keep things running smoothly every day. Sometimes the plumbing acts up, or the lights flicker when it rains, but we manage to get by. It’s just a place where we practice and teach. There isn't a front desk person or anything fancy like that. If you come by, you’ll usually see one of us tidying up or getting things ready for the next group of students. We try to keep a regular schedule but sometimes things run late and we stay past our usual time. It gets a bit cramped when everyone shows up at once in the evenings. The walls have some marks on them from years of use and moving equipment around. We don't really mind the wear and tear. It feels like a lived-in space where actual work happens. Usually, someone is brewing tea in the back room. It’s just a regular spot in the neighborhood for anyone interested in what we do. No big bells or whistles, just a solid floor and enough room to move around.
