Nirmal Tea

If you walk down M G Road in Byculla, you’ll find us right across from the Victoria Garden. The smell of the tea leaves is usually the first thing people notice before they even see the sign for Nirmal Tea. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The garden across the road brings in a lot of people, especially on the weekends when families are out for a walk. Our shop is at number 2, and it’s a bit of an old building. We spend our days weighing out different blends and packing them into bags. It’s a simple life, really. We have regulars who come in every week for the same specific type of tea they’ve been drinking for years. Sometimes we sit and talk for a bit while the scale balances. The traffic on M G Road can be a real headache, but looking out at the greenery of Victoria Garden makes it better. We don’t do those fancy tea bags you see in the supermarkets. It’s mostly loose leaf here. We keep the big bins full and try to keep the dust down, though tea dust gets everywhere eventually. It’s a cozy little place. We don’t have much space for chairs, so people usually just stand around and chat while they wait for their order to be wrapped up. When the sun starts to go down, we start cleaning up the scales for the next morning.
