We are located at number 10, Grant Road, in a building called Raghavji Niwas. It’s one of those classic old Mumbai buildings that has seen a lot of years. Nira Kars Hiring Service has been running out of here for a while. Grant Road is always packed with people and cars, so there’s never a quiet moment. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to the drivers who come in and out. The office itself is quite plain. We have a few old desks and some chairs for when people need to sit and wait. It’s not the kind of place with fancy decorations or air conditioning that works perfectly all the time. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking noise, but we don't really notice it anymore. Working in an old niwas means we know all our neighbors. We often see the same people every day as they head to the station. Dealing with car hires means things can get a bit stressful when the traffic is bad or a driver is late, but we just deal with it as it comes. There’s no big corporate strategy here. We just try to keep the cars moving and the schedules working. It’s a lot of coordination and a bit of luck with the Mumbai traffic. We just show up, do our bit, and go home when the work is finished for the night. It is simple but keeps us busy.
