Masjid Bunder is always a rush, and we are right in the middle of it at the Giriraj Building. M-4 in D Block on Mkk Road is where we keep the stock. Being on 2nd Cross means there is a lot of heavy lifting and moving metal around all day. Steel is heavy work and it gets dusty here. We handle different types of rods and sheets. It’s not the cleanest job, our hands are usually grey by lunchtime. The market here is tight, so we have to be careful when the trucks come in to unload. We have been in this building for some time. We know the other shop owners on the floor. It’s loud with the sound of metal clanging and people shouting orders over the traffic. We don't have a big office, just a desk and some chairs near the back where the paperwork gets done. It’s a bit of a maze in this part of town. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right size of pipe in the pile, but we get it done. We just sell the material that people need for building things. It is what it is. No fancy stuff, just steel and hard work in a busy area. We close up when the sun goes down and do it again tomorrow. It’s just a normal business day here for everyone involved.
