Nidhi Ispat

We've been here on Baroda Street for quite a while now. Nidhi Ispat is the name on the door, though most folks just know us as the place near Union Bank. The area around Masjid and Thakkarnagar is always moving. Lots of trucks and people carrying stuff. Our address is 28/30. It’s a bit of an old building, but it holds up. We deal with metal and steel things mostly. It gets heavy. You can hear the sounds of iron moving if you stand outside. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a secretary. Usually, you just walk in and find one of us. We keep our records in big books. It’s easier that way for us. The tea here is good if you know which stall to go to. Sometimes the street gets blocked by the carts, but we manage. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years. Some shops closed, new ones opened. We stayed put. It’s a hard-working part of town. We fit in okay. No one here wears a suit. We wear clothes that can get a bit dirty. That's the nature of the job. It’s honest work. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just take the orders and get the loads ready. The floor is concrete and often has bits of metal shavings on it. It’s just how it is. We start early and leave when the work is done.
